What are emotions? Why do they control us? Why do they ruin our futures?
I think emotions are nothing more than memories. They are memories that we want vengeance for. As my mother said 'we were determined to get our pound of flesh.' These memories do not care who we make pay for the crimes done to us - they just want retribution.
Even if we get it, that doesn't make the memory go away, so later, we continue the vicious cycle, again, and again...
How to Mend Fast From a Broken Past Relationship - Part Three
This is the third phase of your worthwhile series on "mending fast from a broken emotional past." The quickest and most effective way to move from one stage to the next in life and love is through a personal spiritual awakening or practical enlightenment, which you can incorporate and use in your everyday life.
There is nothing more refreshing than an internal spiritual renewal. In this state, old memories and emotionally-unhealthy experiences will be tossed away and your total being shall be transformed. With this kind of personal revival you will definitely have an enjoyable survival in your life and love relationship. You will no longer be held captive by any emotional disturbances and circumstances which once had you drifting along in life, taking whatever was dished out to you. This is so powerful that you will become the writer, the director, and the producer of your own life's script. You shall pick and choose (or refuse), whom you will allow (or block from entering) into your heart and into your personal environment.
Isn't this amazing? Spiritual renewal is personal power! Personal power allows us to choose without being confused. No longer will you have to wait around for the telephone to ring, wondering, When is he going to call? Nor will you have to feel stuck in a miserable, drawn-out, tug-of-war relationship, pondering, "Will he ever stop cheating?"
You won't fall for any of the lies and false pledges of players who make promises such as "Honey, you light up my life; I want to buy you the Sun, the Moon, and the stars," when actually they can't afford to even
buy you a light bulb.
No; not anymore. You'll tell the unworthy lover boys, "The Lord is my light and my salvation. I am a new creation, and I have no time to join you in careless recreation. I am now ready for my very own healthy love relationship with my exclusive soul mate-a real and decent man-and since you are not ready to make a sincere and honest commitment, you're not the one, and I will no longer let you occupy time in my personal space because your presence is blocking my blessings."
Whew! What a mouthful. To keep it simple: It's time to drop the dead weight date, and get yourself a heavyweight mate. You go girl!
Let's get you spiritually recharged through a delightful four-fold process of Dedication, Meditation, Visualization, and Affirmation:
1. Dedication is perpetual prayer, praise and worship. It's thanking God for everything (and even in advance); for your life, family, abundant blessings, joy, and your specially selected husband. And above all, for making you such a beautiful, brilliant, delightful, and dynamic treasure.
2. Meditation is deep relaxed thinking. In this state you are at peace with yourself and can think clearly about exactly what you want in your life. When you meditate, set aside some personal time to find a private space where you won't be disturbed by daily chaos. Get comfortable, either sitting or lying down, and enjoy the peaceful calmness in your spirit. Think about the people, places, and things that bring you joy, and the new experiences you'd like to explore. Be at ease in your body temple, and enjoy your pleasant thoughts.
3. Visualization is using your imagination to form a picture of what you want to achieve. It can be described as "organized daydreaming." We create random images in our minds when we daydream, but in visualization, we tailor these images in our specific desires. For example, if you want a new car, picture yourself sitting in it and driving it. If you want a healthy relationship, picture yourself being happily in love. I must warn you here that you cannot use this as a kind of mind control to get a certain man to fall in love with you. It won't work. All human beings have the gift of free will (or free moral faculty) from God. So no one can spiritually control another person's mind against their will (nor should he or she want to). What will work, however, is if you visualize yourself in a loving, fun, and peaceful relationship (and environment), with a terrific feeling of healthy love flowing all through your entire being.
4. Affirmation is creating reality through the spoken word. You can use it to program new behavior, relationships, friendships, and just about everything into your life. This technique is so powerful that ancient wisdom urges, "Be careful what you ask for [affirm]; you might just get it [you will if you believe]." Here's a tip that will help you affirm healthy love into your life quickly: Don't affirm in the future tense, "I will be happy" or "I will be loved." Instead, boldly declare in the present tense, "I am now happy," and "I am now loved."
Always affirm with deep conviction, absolute intensity, and feeling. Be careful not to just reel your declarations off your tongue, or merely recite them. Believe what you're stating with all your heart. This is not just a hope, want, or wish, it is real. If you truly believe, you will certainly receive.
If you've completed all three phases of this relationship series, you now have the "insider's secret" and formula for turning around your life and love relationship for the better. First, take the time to restore and pamper the true essence of who you are, and when you're ready, be sure to embrace the sacred healthy love relationship you deserve. Why settle for less when you deserve the best?

Home Remedies for Yeast Infection - Top 8 Users Recommended Home Remedies
The older I become, the more problem I have with this problem. My mother used Boric Acid. I've since found several places that claim Boric acid .
Home Remedies for Yeast Infection - Top 8 Users Recommended Home Remedies
Yeast are tiny or minute organisms (candida fungus) that live in small numbers on human body. They occurs when the normal levels of acid and yeast in the vagina are out of balance, which permits yeast to overgrow causing an uncomfortable, but not serious, condition called yeast infection. Yeast infection can appear with hormonal transform like pregnancy, hormone therapy or the contraceptive pill.
Yeast infections occur mostly in women who are in menstruating periods. Yeast infection can result in weak immune system, degenerative conditions and illness.
Common symptoms of yeast infections include: itching and irritation in the vagina redness, swelling, or itching of the vulva (the folds of skin outside the vagina)a thick, white discharge that can look like cottage cheese and is generally odorless, although it might smell like bread or yeast pain or burning when urinating or during sex.
User Recommended Home Remedies for Yeast Infection
1) Mixture of olive leaf extract with grapefruit seed extraction a glass of water is a good healing tonic for this infection.
2) The essential oil tea tree oil, applied topically to the vaginal area, has shown some potential as a natural Home Remedy for Yeast Infections.
3) Make a paste of garlic pods and apply to skin around the vagina. It may burn for a short time, but is very helpful. This paste can be used for yeast infection in other parts of the body too
4) Regularly daubing apple cider vinegar in the areas prone to this infection. You can add some garlic to stop the itchy sensation; and water to dilute the vinegar concentration. This is another effective Home Remedy for Yeast Infections.
5) Drink at least two glasses of buttermilk a-day, whether infected or not. In fact making curds as a part of the daily diet in take reduces the chance of yeast infection.
6) Curds or yogurt is considered as one of the best home remedies for yeast infection. In fact, it is suggested to soak a tampon into curds and place it in the infected region for at least an hour. Basically, the bacteria from the curds replace the unhealthy yeast bacteria. This could be repeated two to three times in a day. This remedy is effective Home Remedy for Yeast Infections.
7) Boil 1 pint water and add 1 teaspoon licorice powder. Do not drink this, steep it and strain. Use the mixture as a vaginal douche.
8) Insert 1 or 2 boric acid capsules in the vagina and keep the capsules overnight for several days. Boric acid may cause burning and some discomfort, but it will give relief. This is also good Home Remedy for Yeast Infections.

My Cure for Yeast Infections
I eat cranberries and garlic. I have heard that you can make a garlic tampon and insert it - but have never tried it. I do use the following cure. Source:Yeast Infection Home Remedies
teatree oil is available in the US at many natural foods stores. a terrifically helpful woman wrote to tell me that in italy, teatree oil is widely used for yeast infections. she said that her pharmacist told her to coat the top half of a non-applicator type tampon with a lubricant (such as K.Y. jelly or even olive oil), then apply a few drops of pure tea tree oil and insert. the lubricant keeps the teatree oil from absorbing into the tampon. she also said that she finds that the teatree oil can sting if it comes in contact with the vulva, so she uses an applicator tampon, by just lifting off the top part of the applicator to expose the tampon, applying the K.Y. jelly and tea tree oil, and putting the tampon back into the applicator. what a great idea!

Menopause Information You Cannot Be Without
Women entering their later stages of life likely will find menopause information quite handy. As their bodies change, women begin to enter new cycles of life. Menopause is one such cycle of life and it is often referred to as "change of life".
With all of the changes happening in a woman's body, a little bit of information on this discomfort can be very helpful to understanding how to adapt to the changes and what to expect.
Menopause typically begins to arrive in women at around 52 years of age. Some women will experience symptoms of this discomfort at an earlier age, especially if there were some medical issues present that can cause changes to the body's makeup.
Women that have gone through cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy, are likely to experience menopause symptoms earlier.
This common discomfort occurs as the ovaries stop producing estrogen. This causes the woman's reproductive system to gradually shut down. This change is said to be physiological because is is comprised of the body's reactions to adapting to the changes.
The symptoms of this discomfort are not necessarily entirely physical, as the mind also must adapt to the "change of life".
Symptoms of Menopause
As the body is adapting to the changing hormones, many women wonder what is happening to them and how they can adapt. Some of the most important pieces of menopause information are the symptoms of this change of life.
With the body's changes, natural hormones change levels and the body undergoes a variety of sudden "swings". Some symptoms of this common discomfort include:
- Hot flashes or hot flushes - a feeling of intense heat coupled with increasing heartbeat and sweating.
- Sleep issues, such as an inability to keep proper sleeping hours
- Urinary issues, such as frequency or urgency
- Skeletal and joint pain
- Muscle pain
- Fatigue and irritability
- Memory loss
- Depression
Along with those symptoms, other changes can occur within the female's body. It is best to seek the advice of a medical professional, as he or she can provide ample menopause information.
Menopause, while a normal part of a woman's life, can also present some dangerous side effects that should be examined by a doctor. When going through it, always talk to a physician about the symptoms.
Treating Menopause
Another key piece of information on this discomfort is the treatment of it. While it is a normal part of life for women, menopause symptoms can be treated to a large degree to prevent the interference that such occurrences can have on a healthy life.
Many physicians will prescribe hormone replacement therapy, antidepressants and a host of other medications in the event that the symptoms of this common discomfort become unbearable or dangerous.
Some menopause symptoms may result in other health problems. You may need to seek out additional medication or physical treatments for some of these issues.
As with any health issues, talk to your doctor before you seek out any alternative treatments, as he or she will provide you with menopause information that may help your situation.

Need Menopause Relief? Start Eating Right!
If you’re experiencing menopause, then you probably remember a television commercial a few years back; (ok … maybe more than a few years back); that asked the burning question, “Who made the salad?” The family sat around the dinner table about to begin their meal. Someone would ask that all important question, and after everyone would look inquiringly at the rest of the family, the salad dressing that the commercial was promoting was then prominently displayed, and the happy little gathering would rejoice and begin eating. Typical family meal, right? Actually, my own family meal regularly mocked that commercial by asking “who made” whatever we were having.
We all laughed back then, but today it has been discovered that salads of all sorts can be the most nutritious part of the day. Certainly many have learned about the weight loss advantages it has when on a diet, but recently there’s been much more information that has been added to the benefits of eating salads, particularly when it comes to dealing with menopausal symptoms.
It’s probably not a surprise that many women are not enjoying the hot flashes, migraine headaches, sleepless or restless nights, moodiness, and all the other symptoms that go along with becoming older. Although some of those same symptoms are uncomfortable and recurring on a regular basis, generally women are not willing to take the hormone replacement therapies that doctors prescribe for them for fear of long-term side effects and cancer. Consequently, they are looking for other, more natural alternatives.
Reassessing what they’re eating and adding nutrients through food changes is certainly a good place to start. So what do salads have to do with menopause? More than you probably realize.
Without becoming technically boring and medically confusing, let’s find out what should go into a good salad to help with menopausal symptoms.
Remember all the things your mother told you about how healthy salad is for you. Unless you’ve developed a taste for them in your adulthood, her constant reminders are probably still ringing in your ears every time you walk past the produce section of your supermarket. You know you should be eating more salads, but in this day and age of working mothers, frozen food, microwaves, and “drive-throughs”, many women have neither learned nor have taken the initiative to begin eating healthier. If you’ve decided to adopt the attitude of ‘better late than never’, welcome to the ranks of all the aging baby boomers who have finally taken the plunge to eat wisely.
Of course you’ll want to start with the “green” parts as your salad base. Rather than using the nutritionally lacking iceberg lettuce however, use romaine, baby greens, red leaf, or spinach. Any of these can go far to give you the antioxidants, magnesium and iron that is so necessary to your optimum overall health. By adding fresh parsley, basil, and tarragon, you can boost your immune system tremendously and ward off any possible “uglies” just lurking around the corner waiting to attack.
Now add your other vegetables. Sure you can use the most popular vegetables like tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, and carrots, all of which are certainly good for you, but don’t limit yourself by stopping there. Be a little more creative by adding broccoli, cauliflower, artichokes, zucchini, or asparagus.
All vegetables have vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that carry benefits for everyone who eats them. What most don’t realize is that each of them has a unique combination of those vitamins and minerals that is not duplicated by other vegetables. What that means then is that each individual vegetable zeroes in on particular systems or organs. Eating a combination of varied vegetables at any given time increases the function of each of those targeted systems, including those that are associated with menopause.
When speaking of your skin, add a little more color to your face by adding a little more color to your salad. Use all sorts of “veggies” to avoid that “washed out” look. There’s nothing like a good, even complexion to help a menopausal woman feel better about her appearance. Besides, don’t you want that makeup to glide on smoothly and evenly without all the dry patches flaking off an hour later?
In addition to the vegetables included in your salad, how about adding the sweetening agent? I’m not talking chocolate here, ladies. I’m talking about the fruits that already have all the natural sweetening any woman could want.
Apple pieces, orange slices, pears, bananas, strawberries, and all the rest of the berry family, will give your salad the sweetest tang. When mixed with the greens of the salad, the sweet juices of whatever fruits you decide to use actually compliment the flavor of the vegetables; so much so, that in many cases any additional dressing isn’t even needed! If you want that fresh new skin color to absolutely glow, add the fruit for a clearer skin tone, too.
Now it’s time to include the protein from the meat category. Actually, there are two groups of protein that you can choose from, or include. For the vegetarian or ‘not-so-meat-eating’ woman, go with low-fat cottage cheese or boiled eggs. For the woman who wants protein in the form of “real” meat as I call it, you’re welcome to partake in grilled chicken, tuna, turkey, or the lean part of red meat.
In either case, adding any or all of these things to your salad will help you feel ‘full’ longer, (which means you’ll not find it necessary to constantly check to see if the refrigerator light is working), and the fiber you gain from the protein is great for keeping your insides on a regular schedule. Basically girls, you can forget about the constipation that often plagues menopausal women.
Let’s talk dressing. What kind you choose can make or break your salad, so before you grab for the traditional type, you may want to grab the “light” versions. In so doing, you can shave 75 to 100 calories off, and reduce the fat content by six to ten grams, before you even take a bite.
If you’d like to take the full advantage of building your salad, make your own dressing. It only takes a minute or two longer to mix but the rewards will last as long as you do. Just mix extra-virgin olive oil, grape-seed oil, or flavored vinegar with a dry seasoning packet or your choice. By cutting the oil amount in half, you can decrease the calories without compromising the flavor.
Now that you’ve completed the bulk of your salad, it’s time to add the “dessert” of it all. You know; those little nut pieces or seeds that just sound healthy in your mouth. However, be careful. Just like those little colorful sprinkles that adorn the top of a double chocolate cake covered with an inch of deep rich chocolate frosting, (ok, so my mind wandered there for a moment); as I was saying, just like too many of those sprinkles, too many nuts and seeds defeats the purpose, too.
By adding just a tablespoon or two of walnut pieces, pecans, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, or pistachios, you can add a wonderful flavor and crunch to your salad to make it a meal instead of an introduction to it. It doesn’t take many of these little nuggets before they gang up on you and increase the calories so much that they reverse all the thought and time you’ve put into your whole salad! So, you want the healthy fat they offer, but without “Tootsie’s roll” around the middle.
When the cookies, chips, or pastry looks good, or you just want a snack to tide you over until mealtime, reach for the bag of salad you’ve already mixed up. Grab the dressing you blended and eat healthy, both for your overall health, and all the menopause symptoms it will help to relieve. Your mom was right, you know

Women’s Health Requirements for Life
Women are unique individuals each facing different health issues affected by diet, environment, heredity etc. However they generally fall into three age categories.
Women’s Health Age 20-35
Although women in this age group generally have fewer health problems than their older sisters they usually experience higher levels of stress compared to older women. The challenges of balancing children, career, and personal life can be stressful. During this demanding time in a woman’s life it is essential to make sure that you receive the proper nutrients to meet the energy levels your busy schedule demands. Doing so will keep you healthier now and build a good foundation for a healthy future.
The old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure is certainly true in the area of skin care. Now is a good time to start taking care of your skin to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles down the road. A little sun is healthy, but too much can set the stage for skin cancers of all types.
Speaking of pounds, maintaining a healthy weight now will make staying healthy in your future years easier. Losing a few excess pounds is easier now than in midlife. Exercise and a diet full of nutritious foods is the best way to do this.
Women’s Health Age 35-50
As women enter their 30’s they begin a slow process of ending their reproductive years. This is known as perimenopause. Actual menopause is reached when your body has not experience your monthly cycle for one year. Perimenopause can last up to ten years. Every woman’s body is different and the duration and intensity of perimenopausal symptoms varies. If you experience at least 3 of the following symptoms you are probably entering perimenopause: moodiness, irritability, menstrual changes, sleeping disturbances, bloating/water retention, hot flashes, mild to moderate depression. Studies have shown that consuming phytoestrogens (plant estrogens) in addition to a healthy diet and lifestyle can reduce the severity of menopausal symptoms.
This is also the time when laugh lines and crow’s feet begin to show up, along with the dreaded double chin. As your skin ages collagen and elastin begin to break down, causing it to lose its firm supple appearance. New skin cell production begins to slow down and this may lead to a dry, dull complexion. Your scalp also is aging and this may lead to dull, brittle, even thinning hair.
Women’s health 50 and beyond
The major concerns for this group are heart health, keeping bones strong, and preserving healthy joints. It is vital to supply your body with the nutrients it needs to help prevent osteoporosis and heart disease.
Your skin will have matured as well. It now takes your skins cells twice as long to replace themselves as it did at age 20. Oil production decreases, leaving your skin significantly drier. Skin becomes thinner with age, making wrinkles, dropping, and irritation more likely. Years of sun exposure can make the skin tone uneven.
One way to be sure to get the nutrients you need is to take a good multi vitamin. This should be made of all natural ingredients, and cold-processed to retain enzyme activity. Make sure that your vitamin provider does clinical studies to prove delivery of the nutrients in their product, and is willing to publish the results.

Does Menopause Really Increase Intelligence?
There is an old saying that with age comes wisdom. Many believe the female of the human species were selected for menopause as they reach a certain age, as they have acquired the wisdom and intelligence to care for the children that were bred. Although, asking women in the stages of premenopause if they feel any smarter their answer may come as a surprise. However outlandish the theory may sound, in its own way it makes sense.
As children women have no reproductive capabilities and until they go through the "raging hormone" stage of puberty, are unable to reproduce. This is the time of their life when their body is secreting hormones.
The hormones involved in making them conducive to bearing children include:
Estrogen
Progestin
Testosterone
When these hormones begin to appear, their reproductive system begins to function. Typically, this stage begins between 11 and 13 years of age. Between the ages of 45 and 55 menopause begins to end the reproductive stage of their life and the entire process is reversed.
While many believe that menopause is the time in a woman's life when they cease experiencing monthly menstrual cycles, medically speaking it is the time when the ovaries cease functioning. Technically, menopause is the day the ovaries shut down and the time leading up to that is called pre-menopause.
Post-menopausal women are typically in the last stages of child rearing where advice and guidance are needed for their children. Some children however, may not be amenable to taking advice from a woman who just went through their change of life, and may take sometime to reestablish a relationship. However, as the younger brood begins to bear children of their own the grandmother's presence is welcomed. Many parents have been heard to say they cannot wait until their children get older so they can be smart again, adding to the argument that after menopause, mothers do get smarter.
While many drugs have been developed to help women through the symptoms of menopause including hormone replacement therapy, there are many women who weigh the benefits of the drugs against the potential risk of side effects and opt to seek alternative and more natural ways of dealing with the phenomenon that is menopause.
Bioidentical drugs that have been developed for hormone replacement therapies have shown the most promise as they appear to the body to be the real thing. By being recognized a body-friendly, these drugs do not spark a reaction by the immune system and create harsh side effects or create other health problems. As research continues on development of these products, most women continue to deal with natural products, promising relief from the mane effects of menopause.

Women in Menopause Take New Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy
While writing a book for women in the life stage of aging, one California-based reseacher and writer asked an important question. T.S. Wiley asked,"If hormone replacement was made of real bio-identical hormones and dosed to mimic the ups and downs of the hormone blood levels in a normal menstrual cycle in a 20 year-old woman, would all of the symptoms and disease states of aging decline or even, disappear?"
To her surprise, and also many others, it just might be that it was the rhythm that was always missing from other regimens.
Tens of thousands of women are taking her Protocol. Their libido is improved, and they look and feel much better. But there are still many women who are still confused about hormones, in the wake of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Women's Health Initiative (WHI). Doctors became leery and made it difficult to get hormones. Getting legitimate insurance-covered physicians to prescribe even bio-identical hormone molecules has, for the last twenty-years or so, also been a challenge.
This cannot be said for statically dosed forms of BHRT. What can be said, though, is that the WHI has proven that synthetic hormones are dangerous. The assumption among those using bio-identical hormone regimens is that they are safer. Keep in mind that it could have been the synthetics that may have caused harm not just because they were not bio-identical hormone molecules but because of the way they were statically dosed.
However, Wiley's new delivery system consists of bio-identical estradiol and progesterone in a topical cream preparation dosed to mimic the natural hormones produced by a body that is around 20 years-old. The creams and their amounts vary throughout the 28 day female cycle, and mimic hormone levels of youth.
"I do not think I would be here today if I did not discover this new protocol. Severely depressed, I went everywhere for help and tried everything. My physical symptoms of bleeding for over one year just would'nt stop. And I felt just like other women that were described in Somers' book Ageless, going from one doctor to another and getting nowhere. I was ready to commit suicide. If I could take anything on a desert island other than my dog, it would only be my Wiley Protocol hormone creams," said Marla Mintz.
The only BHRT developed under the scrutiny of an Oncologist. Over the last three years a preponderance of anecdotal evidence has been gathered in over a thousand women ages nineteen to ninety that show evidence that this protocol is safe and effective.
Kristin Gabriel is the marketing communications director for T.S.Wiley, a medical writer and researcher in chronobiology, environmental endocrinology and circadian rhythmicity. Wiley is the author of "Sex, Lies & Menopause," and the also the developer of The Wiley Protocol, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.
Women in Menopause Find Relief With Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (bhrt)
In the past year, every month there are more and more articles talking about the fact that women are now taking bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). What are bioidentical hormones, and how can they help women in menopause?
Bioidentical hormones are molecules that are the same as the endogenous hormones made in a person's body. They are not exactly the same, but the molecules are the same, and they are derived in a lab from plants. These bio-identical hormones are often referred to as natural. BHRT differs from conventional hormone replacement therapy, which by definition uses animal or synthetic hormones and whose structures differ from the hormones produced in a human body.
Women can take bioidentical hormones in pill form, as drops under the tongue, or they may use a topical cream. The various approaches to the dosing and blood levels are all clumped together as "natural," but thanks to one researcher and author, the following question was rasied.
How can bioidentical hormones really be natural if they do not mimic a rhythm that your body can recognize as natural in you?
T.S. Wiley, who teaches accredited seminars on the natural history of endocrinology, was seeking natural hormones with natural replacement - real HRT. She believes that gels, pills and drops do not pulse in our bodies, like endogenous hormones pulse. A young and healthy oman's endogenous hormones go up and down and trigger different genes; genes that not only grow cells, but also stop cells from growing, and then tell cells to die.
So she looked closely at the various hormone states women have in life; 1) pregnant 2) young and cycling, 3) breastfeeding and 4) hormones that are declining. Doesn't it make sense that number 1 -- young and cycling - seems to replicate that state of hormonal health the best? Why? Because the other two templates are too hard to recreate physically and experimentally.
What this means is that women cycle up to a peak of estrogen and then the body lets it fall and then brings it down again for a second smaller peak. Progesterone peaks on day 21. Healthy women have a period that lasts for five days with a heavier flow on day two and three.
There is rhythm to how hormones work, with a beat like music. Pills, gels, drops and static dosing do not honor the music. Women who have enough hormones say they feel good, and some feel better than they did their entire lives.
There are tens of thousands of women who are getting excellent results from rhythmically dosed bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. They have provided testimonials of their menopause experiences on the Wiley website.
Kristin Gabriel is the marketing communications director for T.S. Wiley, a medical writer and researcher in chronobiology, environmental endocrinology and circadian rhythmicity. Wiley is the author of "Sex, Lies & Menopause," and the also the developer of The Wiley Protocol, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
Chamomile Tea As A Sleep Aid
A typical day in many a working adult can come with a big helping of stress, compounded with overindulgence in caffeine. If you find you can't get through the day without coffee and/or soda, chamomile tea could be the perfect counterbalance to settle your nerves before you climb into bed. Chamomile tea has been shown to work as a depressant, thus bringing your nerves down to a manageable level before trying to close your eyes and get the forty winks you've worked so hard for. In addition to the effects on the nervous system, all of this caffeine can wreak havoc on your digestive system, leading to an upset stomach at night, particularly when lying down. Chamomile tea can again serve as an aid. Chamomile has properties known to settle the stomach, as well as settle the nerves.
There is some amount of dissent in the scientific community as to whether chamomile provides the effects it has long claimed to. While the jury may be out on the exact properties and their exact effects, it can't hurt to give it a try. Chamomile's effects are very popular anecdotally, and there are few if any reports of any adverse effects. Something can also be said for the placebo effect. Perhaps sitting with a warm cup of tea and taking the time to relax and focus on settling yourself for sleep has just as much power as an activity as any perceived herb in the tea.
If you'd like to give chamomile tea a try, the best effects are typically found by sipping a cup of the tea a half hour to an hour before you intend to go to bed. In addition to trying the tea:
Try shutting yourself free of distractions and stimulators at about the same time.
Turn of the television.
Minimize your interactions with others.
Avoid other things that lead to a state that isn't conducive to sleep.
Reading a book can be an excellent way to stir up the sleep hormones.
Some people recommend sitting and reflecting on the day, but for those not living the life they wish they were, this can lead to more stress than just about anything else you can do. Use this time to forget about the day, not dwell on it.
Richard Smart writes for Natural Health Products, Inc and online natural health company which provides a very effective sleep aid product.

The Effects of Balancing Estrogen and Progesterone
In the months making up a woman's reproductive years, estrogen is produced in higher levels during the first 14 days of her 28-day menstrual cycle (Note: Not every woman's cycle is exactly 28 days). Its job is to cause the thickening of the lining of the uterus and a change in the cervical mucus in preparation for a pregnancy.
In the second 14 days of the menstrual cycle, progesterone is secreted from within the womb itself, causing the endometrium (surface of the lining of the uterus) to be thick with mucous. If pregnancy does not occur, progesterone further causes the unfertilized egg and thickened lining to be sloughed off in the menstrual period.
If either estrogen or progesterone becomes imbalanced within their relationship to one another, the timing of the entire menstrual cycle can be thrown off or completely disrupted. In addition to that, a number of other problems or symptoms occur including weight gain, water retention, anxiety and depression, mood swings, unclear thinking, low blood sugar levels, fatigue, sleeplessness, night sweats, headaches and more.
The amount of estrogen and progesterone produced in the body fluctuates from month to month and is affected by various factors including overall health, differing stress levels, environmental factors which can cause "estrogen dominance", diet and physical activity. The goal for enjoying optimum health is to maintain the bodies hormonal balance through attention to diet and exercise, diminishing sources of stress and anxiety, and protection from harmful environmental circumstance so that the body's systems, including the production of hormones estrogen and progesterone operate harmoniously.

Osteoporosis: a Silent Killer of Bones
Simply a sneezing, a tight hug, stepping, bending down to get something can cause Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is also known by another name called "porous bone." There are certain factors which are associated with Osteoporosis. These factors are termed as "Risk Factors." Some of the factors are as mentioned below:
• Gender: Sex plays a major concern in the occurrence of Osteoporosis. Females have a more probability of being attacked with Osteoporosis than the male generation. Sometimes Osteoporosis is also related with menopause. Osteoporosis is estimated to have been attacking the women folk as and when they reach the stage of menopause. Thus when a woman reaches the age of around 45 years and when she is attacked with menopause that is when she experiences the stoppage of menstruation, the velocity of Osteoporosis is found to be more.
• Age: Age is yet another risk factor of Osteoporosis. The more a person advances in age, the more is the risk of being attacked with Osteoporosis. It is generally during the old age that the bones become very much weak and fragile and thus they are prone to get attacked with Osteoporosis.
• Body dimensions: Women with thin and lean body physique have more the chance of being attacked with Osteoporosis.
• Ethnicity: Ethnicity plays a major role in respect of Osteoporosis. Here we can state that Asian as well as the Caucasian women folk has a high risk of Osteoporosis then when compared to American, African and Latin women.
• Hereditary: Family history is also adversely related with Osteoporosis. Present generation whose fore-fathers suffered from Osteoporosis, has more risk of Osteoporosis.
Besides these, anorexia, certain medications, smoking of cigarette, excessive drinking of alcohol and also maintenance of a low lifetime diet with less amount of vitamin D and calcium also causes Osteoporosis.
As it is always said that prevention is better then cure, thus Osteoporosis can also be prevented by undertaking certain precautions in the early stage of one's development. As the demand of calcium is found to be very high in the growing stage of one's development, thus a good amount of calcium products should be undertaken from the early developmental stages. Inadequacy of calcium in one's body has a greater prospect to be affected by Osteoporosis. So it is always advisable to undertake certain calcium products in one's diet like yogurt, milk, cheese, ice cream, green and leafy vegetables, like broccoli, spinach etc, fish like salmon and sardines, dry fruits like almonds, juices and squash etc. Thus according to the different stages of one's development right from the stage of infancy to old age, the intake of calcium should be adjusted accordingly in order to prevent Osteoporosis.

5 Osteoporosis Facts! Sorting the Myths From the Facts of Osteoporosis!
Osteoporosis Fact 1 - Low estrogen levels do not cause osteoporosis!
For many years the public and medical profession has been fed incorrect information about how Osteoporosis works and how it can be treated. By redefining the condition, meddling with statistics and withholding vital medical information from tests the big drug companies that had been looking for a way to sell their hormone replacement pills had found a new market.
By convincing the populace with a major marketing campaign the companies whose estrogen supplements had suffered a major loss as research showed it had major side effects with cancer being the major problem. Suddenly it seemed common knowledge that lack of Estrogen which occurs in older women after menopause was what caused low bone density!
This was not true but the marketing campaign backed by corrupt studies had everyone convinced so the sales of these products despite their risks skyrocketed.
There is in fact no proof that low estrogen levels causes Osteoporosis. Women from many cultures have been tested and it is found that older women from all over the world do suffer any major Osteoporosis problems on the whole.
Osteoporosis Fact 2 - Increasing calcium intake will not stop Osteoporosis!
Osteoporosis and lower bone density does have a lot to do with calcium in that the condition strips calcium from the bone leaving it frail. However drinking more milk and eating more dairy is not the answer. Our modern western lifestyles that are high in protein and dairy actually leaves our blood much more acidic than other people, this acidic blood strips calcium from the bone to equalize the bloods acid level but that calcium is not replaced. Unfortunately dairy food while high in calcium also increases the bloods acid levels making it of little benefit to someone already on the way to Osteoporosis.
To back this up there have been studies that have shown that people from traditionally low dairy diets in certain parts of the world do not suffer Osteoporosis to any great degree!
Osteoporosis Fact 3 - Osteoporosis is not genetic!
As with the last point we see that Osteoporosis is caused by conditions in our diet, not by the predisposition of our parents. Some people may be more at risk than others due to different body types but Osteoporosis is certainly a lifestyle condition more than anything else.
Osteoporosis Fact 4 - Osteoporosis is not about age!
Some people believe that Osteoporosis is just another part of getting old. While it is more noticeable in older people this is caused by a lifetime of problems that have led to the conditions that will show themselves later in life. The truth is that this condition is preventable with he right diet and exercise, especially weight bearing and resistance exercise that helps in bone development.
Osteoporosis Fact 5 - You can cure Osteoporosis!
Osteoporosis is not some disease that when you have it you must suffer it forever, it is a reversible condition! While prevention is easier and better than curing Osteoporosis building healthy bones from a low bone density base can be done by changing your lifestyle with diet and exercise!

Calcium Requirements Increase With Age For Women
As we age our calcium intake naturally increases due to the reduction of intestinal calcium adsorption after menopause for women. Post menopausal women also have reduced acid production in the stomach and lower intake of vitamin D therefore calcium citrate supplement should be taken increasing calcium levels to offset the lower intestinal adsorption and less efficient conversion of calcium by the kidneys. The national academies of sciences guidelines for calcium intake for women suggest 1,000 mg per day for women between the ages 31-50 years old; women older than 50 should take upwards of 1,200 mg calcium per day. The problem however is, most postmenopausal women in today's society either have poor diets, and or are vegans. The elderly may not have adequate calcium intake because of their dietary lack as well. In the USA, postmenopausal women have dietary intakes of around 600 mg per day which is below the recommended amount.
Calcium in the blood has roles in muscle contraction, nerve-impulse transmission, blood clotting, milk production (women), hormone secretion, and enzyme function. If there is a calcium deficiency in the diet, calcium is pulled from the bones and teeth so other body functions can continue. Therefore, it is important to calculate the amount of calcium supplementation you need. The first thing is to estimate your current dietary intake of calcium outside of any supplementation that you may take. Most women eat 2 to 3 meals a day so you can assume you get 250 mg calcium per day not counting dairy foods or calcium fortified foods. A lot of women take an additional 300 mg calcium by one serving of dairy products. If you drink one glass of milk then your total intake is calculated to be 550 mg calcium per day. Therefore you need an additional 650-950 mg per day.
Since we have determined that our intake of calcium is lacking, the next question you may have is what form of calcium should I be taking in a supplement to meet my needs? There are a few different forms of calcium found in your local health food store such as (i) calcium carbonate and (ii) calcium citrate. Some women who take calcium carbonate suffer from constipation, nausea and indigestion. Calcium carbonate is best taken with food because of improved adsorption. Calcium citrate on the other hand is best taken on an empty stomach for improved adsorption. Calcium citrate is less likely to cause constipation, nausea and indigestion therefore it is the better choice for older women with lower stomach acid and lower intake of vitamin D. Furthermore, some research has shown that combining Vitamin D with calcium can improve adsorption.
Calcium supplementation is extremely safe, even in quantities up to 1,500 mg per day from both diet and supplements there is no risk of increased kidney stones. However, calcium intake greater than 2,500 mg per day from diet and supplementation should be avoided unless recommended by your health care professional.
More information on calcium and Calcium supplements can be found at VitaNet, LLC Heath Foods. Where a large selection of vitamin supplements are available for purchase at discount prices. http://vitanetonline.com

What is Brachytherapy?
There are several ways of giving radiation dosage to a cancerous tumor. The most common method is to deliver the required dosage from an external beam of radiation produced outside the body. In this case the source of radiation beam is located 80-100 cm from the body of the person receiving radiation. Sometimes placing the source of radiation within the tumor might have advantages over delivering radiation from an external source. This method of delivering required radiation from an internal source embedded within the tumor is called brachytherapy.
If you are aware of the inverse square law in physics you would know the dosage of radiation therapy delivery changes by a great proportion depending upon the distance of the radiation source to the intended target. In brachytherapy the source of radiation is within the tumor volume and the proper placement of these sources of radiation within the tumor is of crucial importance.
There are several radioactive isotopes used in the brachytherapy. These include radium-226, cesium-137, cobalt-60, iridium192, iodine-125, gold-198 and palladium-103. Radium has a longer half-life compared to some of the other radioactive isotopes. In the past radium was the primary isotope used in brachytherapy, but recently radium has been largely replaced by cesium, gold and iridium, which have relatively shorter half-life and lower energies and because of this the radiation from these isotopes can be easily shielded.
Brachytherapy can be delivered with devices known as implants. These devices may be in the form of needles or seeds or ribbons. Brachytherapy can be delivered with permanent or temporary implants. These implants might be temporary or permanent. Temporary implants usually have a longer half-life and higher energies compared to the permanent implants. All temporary implants are inserted into the tumor during surgery. The duration of treatment for the temporary implant is usually 1-3 days.
Interstitial low-dose rate (LDR) brachytherapy is usually used for cancers involving the mouth and oral cavity, pharynx. This mode of treatment is often used in the treatment of sarcomas. Prostate cancer treatment is the most common form of LDR brachytherapy using seeds. Uterine cancer is the most common application of intracavitary LDR treatment. These patients are often isolated to prevent radiation exposure to nursing and other supportive staff during the care of the person.
The most common uses of high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy includes treatment of esophageal cancer, lung cancer and recently breast cancer and prostate cancer. Most HDR treatments are done as outpatient procedures allowing the patients to return to home the same day as treatment. Patients who are receiving treatment for prostate cancer is an exception who may remain in the hospital for 2-3 days during the treatment.

Getting Serious About Breast Cancer Prevention
While it is currently true that there are some very promising advances in breast cancer research and treatment, it is still a prudent course of action to use prevention as your best defense against getting this cancer in the first place, and that is what we are ready to discuss.
Some of these promising treatments and detection tools for breast cancer include genetic testing for certain risk factors that can help women determine preventive courses of action if they are at a higher risk, advanced ways of detecting breast cancer earlier including more sophisticated biopsy methods with minimal invasion, and new and improved breast cancer drugs and tailored courses of treatment.
Heck, I was even reading just the other day about one company that is coming out with new, natural "biochemical" remedies against cancer and other serious maladies for which we have yet to discover excellent, non life threatening treatments.
Perhaps the most obvious of all prevention measures is, of course, eating a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables and "live" foods instead of processed, dead foods. Reducing alcohol or eliminating it completely helps to protect against breast cancer. If you drink alcohol, limit your consumption to less than one drink per day.
While there has been discussion and debate about whether red wine may help fight cancer, it is still wise to watch your consumption of even this, since it is, in essence, processed and broken down as a sugar, which causes inflammation.
Inflammation is thought to be a major contributor to all types of cancer, and I tend to agree with this philosophy from the information I've been privy to. Many of the popular diets now that promote overall health, weight maintenance and blood sugar stability are often "anti inflammatory" in nature, they just aren't always advertised that way.
Keep your weight at a healthy level for your age and height. Be especially vigilant not to gain any postmenopausal weight as this has been proven to increase your odds of getting breast cancer. The excess fatty tissue in your body increases your estrogen and the degree of estrogen exposure in your lifetime is linked to breast cancer.
Exercising can help with weight loss or maintenance of a healthy weight, therefore lowering your risk of breast cancer. If you do the weight bearing aerobics, you will add the extra bonus of keeping your bones strong.
Limit the amount of fats in your dietary intake. A lower fat diet has a moderate effect, but still decreases the risk of breast cancer. Hormone replacement therapy taken long term has been associated with an increase in breast cancer. If you are taking hormone replacements, you should probably talk to your doctor about other therapies to minimize menopausal symptoms.
There is not clear cut evidence linking birth control pills and a higher incidence of breast cancer. The newer oral contraceptives have a lower dose than the older contraceptives. Studies continue on this subject, but it may be something to think about when considering forms of birth control.
Excessive use of antibiotics is being scrutinized as a possible risk factor in the development of breast cancer. Exposure to pesticides is also being looked at in relation to breast cancer. Use caution concerning long term use of antibiotics and limit exposure to pesticides.
Areas of research that are promising and natural are retinoids and flaxseed. Retinoids, a form of vitamin A, may inhibit growth of cancer cells. Flaxseed lowers the amount of estrogen circulating in your body.
Both flaxseed and retinoid compounds are being studied for their role in breast cancer prevention, and are also known to be of benefit in heart and circulatory health, and flaxseed is known for it's digestive benefits as well. Most foods that are beneficial for cancer prevention wear many hats when it comes to health benefits, which is always a good thing.
Regular screenings by mammograms and self examinations will help to detect any early signs of breast cancer. Nothing is guaranteed to eliminate the risk, however lifestyle changes can reduce your risks significantly and are often simple and easy steps to take. You just have to know what they are...

Missed Diagnosis of Breast Cancer? your Legal Options
There are few things more frightening than finding out that you or a loved one has breast cancer. Finding out that it had gone undetected or misdiagnosed by a skilled medical professional can be devastating. In these situations, a tumor that could have been treated with early detection may prove fatal.
According to the National Cancer Institute, in 2007 an estimated 178,480 new cases of breast cancer in women will be reported and approximately 40,460 women will die from breast cancer. After skin cancer, it is the most common type of cancer in women.
Disease Development
Breast cancer develops when the body manufactures and retains unneeded blood cells. These cells collect in various tissues of the breast, eventually forming a mass called a tumor. Tumors can be benign (not cancerous), or malignant (cancerous).
Malignant tumors, if not detected early, can spread into surrounding tissue, damaging that tissue and nearby organs. Cancerous cells can also break off from the tumor in the breast and enter the blood stream. When this happens, new tumors can form anywhere else in the body.
Breast cancer develops over stages, which correspond to the severity of the cancer. Stage 1 is the earliest stage, when the cancer has not spread from the breast area and the tumor is relatively small. The cancer progresses through Stage 4, where the tumor has spread to other parts of the body and is likely to be lethal.
Treatment methods and success rates vary depending on the stage of the cancer’s development. If it’s detected at the earlier stages, the woman is more likely to be able to spare the breast and lymph nodes under the arm. At later stages, the breast and lymph nodes may have to be removed. Women with Stage 4 cancer may be treated to prevent the further spread of cancer, but generally cannot be cured.
Importance of Early Detection
Thanks to advances in medical technology and a growing understanding of cancer, medical professionals are able to detect breast cancer in the early stages. They can also recognize certain factors that may increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer. A health plan can be developed which involves preventative measures and frequent mammograms.
Because cancer is very difficult to treat once it has spread, early detection is essential in combating it. Utah medical malpractice firm G. Eric Nielson & Associates handled a case where a woman’s doctor misdiagnosed her breast cancer as a cyst and failed to perform tests to verify. Once the cancer was detected, it was no longer treatable.
In situations like this, where doctors either fail to diagnose breast cancer or treat it negligently, there may be legal options available. If a doctor misdiagnoses breast cancer by falling below the appropriate standard of care, there may be an issue of medical negligence. Where a doctor fails to follow up when suspecting breast cancer, it may be considered medical malpractice.
In these situations, a doctor may be liable for a number of costs:
· Treatment costs
· Future medical expenses
· Loss of quality of life
· Pain and suffering
· Wrongful death
Obtaining compensation for your medical bills, or the pain and suffering associated with misdiagnosis, is possible through a skilled medical malpractice attorney. Because the medical field is complex, medical malpractice is a sophisticated area of the law.
Medical malpractice firms like Salt Lake City’s G. Eric Nielson & Associates are familiar with the terminology and processes needed for a successful medical malpractice claim.

Common treatments of hair loss in women.
Much has been said and written about modern day hair loss treatments but this tends to relate almost exclusively to men. Do these same treatments offer solutions to women suffering from hair loss or is there a completely different category of remedies available? It really depends on what is causing hair loss in the first place and as the most common causes of hair loss are the same as those that affect men, the treatments available are pretty similar.
In an earlier article we concluded that the three most common causes of hair loss in women are female pattern baldness, telogen effluvium and alopecia areata. We'll now look at each of these in turn and examine the best treatments available, bearing in mind the specific needs of women:
1. Treatments for female pattern baldness.
In most instances minoxidil (Rogaine) is the first treatment used. This is one of only two FDA approved hair loss treatments and it remains the only one approved for use by women. Minoxidil comes in the form of a topical solution that works by tackling the symptoms of hair loss and helping to generate new hair growth. It does not target the causes of hair loss and will not work for everyone. The women's version of minoxidil is a 2% solution but the 5% version marketed for men can be used if necessary.
The most popular drug for treating male pattern baldness is of course finasteride (Propecia). Women of child bearing age should not use this drug due to the severely damaging effects it can have on unborn male fetuses. Any women considering using Propecia should discuss it first with their physician. In some cases your doctor may prescribe a different androgen blocker called spironolactone as a means of stopping the hormone activity that is causing hair loss. Spironolactone is normally used as a diuretic and results may be variable.
There is a bewildering range of commercial products available, most of which are aimed squarely at men but many are also suitable for women to use. Whether they work or not is another question but some products containing ingredients like saw palmetto, stinging nettle, pygeum and green tea have shown their value. You can find out more about these and other poential hair loss solutions by visiting the site listed at the end of this article.
2. Treatments for telogen effluvium
This is a hair loss condition that generally does not require any specific treatment. Once the effects of the trauma that caused hair loss in the first place have subsided, the hair will regrow of its own accord. Some patients like to encourage the regrowth process by using minoxidil but this isn't necessary. Implementing a good nutritional regime and supplementing with B-vitamins may help to create a hair friendly environment.
3. Treatments for alopecia areata.
This is another hair loss condition that may resolve itself spontaneously. In some cases one of the following treatments may prove useful:
- Daily application of minoxidil (Rogaine).
- Injection of cortisone into patchy areas of the scalp (this must be administered by a physician). Creams and lotions containing cortisone can also be used but results are variable.
- Dithranol can be applied to the scalp in mild or early cases.
- Application of 100% aloe vera gel.
- Massage the scalp with rosemary and lavender essential oils in a jojoba base.
- Use of a hair loss product containing the Chinese herb He Shou Wu.
- A product called Calosol has recently generated positive feedback.
Please note, however, that none of these is guaranteed to work due to the unpredictable nature of alopecia areata. It is this uncertainty that offers opportunities for scamsters to make outlandish claims. The fact remains, there are no miracle cures for advanced forms of alopecia areata so sufferers may wish to consider other options such as head coverings and wigs.

Conquer Your Fear
Your belief system is the driving force behind your behaviors and your results. If you can change your beliefs, you will change your behaviors. When you change your behaviors, you will change your results. Then, when you change your results, you will change your life.
It all starts with your belief system. Jesus said, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes" (Mark 9:23).
Many things can keep one from believing. But, I think the biggest factor that keeps one from believing is fear and doubt.
Fear and doubt is a common problem from which none of us is immune. They are acquired diseases because we weren't born with them. They are very contagious and are passed around from one person to another. They impair your normal functioning and keep you from making positive and long lasting changes in your life. If you're not careful, fear and doubt will cause you to make weak and irrational decisions that sell out your future for the sake of today. They will steal your peace, your joy, and your very life.
Fear is probably the dominant problem in one's life. 90 percent of the chronic patients who see today's physicians have one common symptom fear.
Many different fears are common to us all to some degree, such as a fear of failure, fear of success, fear of losing one's job, fear of poverty, fear of criticism, fear of illness, fear of rejection, fear of growing old, fear of being separated from loved ones, fear of death, and probably one of the most common fears of all - fear of inadequacy.
Then there are innumerable phobias such as a fear of the dark, fear of high places, fear of closed-in places, fear of insects, and so on.
But, fear is a part of life and a God-given emotion. We rightly fear many things that we should fear. In it's right place, fear is a strong motivator and protecter.
Fear becomes a problem when it is irrational, such as fears that are imagined. 90 percent of the things we imagine through fear never happen. Much of the remaining 10 percent we often make happen ourselves. Like the person who has a fear of failure; he may get himself so anxious about failing, he will actually, somehow, make himself fail.
So, how do we overcome our fears?
~ The first step for resolving any problem is to admit you have the problem. Whatever fear you're experiencing, admit it. It's ok to feel fear but it's not ok to let your fear control you. For those who will admit they have a disease called fear, they are more likely to break through it's control over them.
~ Determine if your fears are imaginary. If so, acknowledge it and refuse to continue to dwell on those fearful thoughts. What the mind dwells on, it magnifies and attracts. It will eventually begin to actually believe that your fearful imaginations are real and act upon them.
~ If your fear is real, accept it and take whatever steps you can to change the circumstances that cause your fear. Keep in mind that courage isn't the absence of fear, it's the ability to press on dispite the presence of fear. Many times, the solution to any fear is simply - do the thing you fear. It's amazing how action conquers fear! Try it.
~ If you are fearing a person, or the 'unknown,' the best thing to do is simply trust God. There is no greater way to overcome these kinds of fears. The Bible says, "Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe" (Proverbs 29:25). Trust your circumstances to God every day. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Cast your care on Him for He cares for you."
Remember, your belief system is the driving force behind your behaviors and your results. If your beliefs are fear driven, they will impair your normal functioning and keep you from making positive and long lasting changes in your life.
If you conquer your fears and doubts, you will conquer failure.
