Change Your Mood By Wearing Chakra Colors

Next time you're standing in front of your closet, ask yourself, "who is it that I want to be today?"

That is exactly what I did yesterday morning when getting ready for another day on the job site. I used the following color guide to achieving the image I wanted to present:

Red: As a symbol for danger, red is used for stop signs, high voltage signs, traffic lights and fire-fighting equipment. Hence, I pulled on red socks as a message to the lads on the building site: "Beware - this girl doesn't know how to operate a drop-saw."

Orange: My orange knee-pads said it all - I'm enthusiastic and active about this project; my creative urges are flowing; and I'm not too serious about the situation. Which is fortunate, because I was starting to look like a rainbow. Read on...

Yellow: This color helps in decision-making; to increase confidence; and to bring some sunshine on cloudy days. For this reason, my suede brown nail bag got a lick of sunflower-yellow paint. In the shape of a sunflower. Suddenly I discovered that my supply of tech-screws ceased being pilfered.

Pink: Pink is the colour of universal love. Soft pink increases tenderness, love and acceptance; crimson raises passionate energy; and magenta helps you stand firm against disorder and pain. Or so I was hoping as I pulled on my hot-pink singlet - it's murder lugging timber all day. It worked. The color outed latent chivalry in the lads, and they carried the timber for me.

Light Blue: My lapis lazuli pendant is designed to promote the flow of communication and to broaden my perspective of my world. This last bit happens naturally when I'm balancing at the top of the ladder, but it helps to have the added protection of light blue when it comes time to scream for help.

Indigo: Dark blue helps you develop intuition; rise above the rut you have created for yourself; enjoy solitude; or find a solution to a problem. It's no wonder then, that I found that my navy-blue cell phone invaluable when lying at the bottom of a trench.

Purple: Add shades of purple to your life when you want to expand your imagination, remove obstacles, and feel like royalty. Not that purple tiaras are easy to find, but don't let that stop you. It's amazing what you can achieve with a pot of paint and some color-inspiration!

Amazing Edible Masks For Your Face

There are all types of skin care products currently on the market, most of which contain ingredients that can't even be pronounced. Chemicals, synthetic materials, and even oils are found in many face washes and masks on the market, which can be hazardous to your skin and even cause allergic reactions. They can get pretty pricey too, especially if you buy one that you end up throwing away because it doesn't work well with your skin type. Luckily, there still is a way to keep your skin looking great without having to worry about what you're using on your face.

Making your own natural skin care recipes is not only simple, but it can be so much fun. You can even use the leftovers for a snack while you relax, and let the natural ingredients go to work. You don't have to visit a specialty store or buy products online to make your own edible masks; you can actually find everything you need at your local grocery store. Fruits, vegetables, and even oatmeal can work wonders on your face, as long as they are used correctly and mixed with the right ingredients.

Cucumbers are a great way to reduce any puffiness you may have under your eyes, and you can eat them right after you use them if you life. Take two thin slices and place one on top of each eye, and leave for about five minutes. When done on a daily or weekly basis, your eyes will be looking great in no time.

Oatmeal is another food item that works wonders for the skin, and it can be used as a mask or a scrub. Strawberries, watermelon, honey, and even eggs make great masks, or you can add some salt or olive oil to turn them into exfoliating scrubs. The possibilities really are endless when it comes to using food on your face.

Honey is one of the best products to use on your face. Use a warm wash cloth over you face to open your pores, and then smear on the honey on your entire face. You can add some oatmeal if you have oily skin, since it works to soak up any extra moisture. Leave on your face for about 20 minutes, rinse with warm water, and apply a wash cloth with cold water to close your pores.

Raw eggs also make great face masks, and you can use either the yolk or the white. The yolks work best for dry skin, while the whites are better for oily or normal skin. Beat the portion of the egg you want to use, and apply to your face and neck. Leave on until it dries, and wash off with warm water. Your skin will feel smooth, tight, and flawless after using a raw egg mask.

Watermelon and strawberries are great for the skin, since they are both packed full of rich vitamins and nutrients. You can mash up some watermelon in a bowl, and make sure to remove any seeds. Adding strawberry juice to the mix if you have sensitive skin or sunburn, since it works to soothe and repair your skin. Apply the thick juice to your face, and leave on for about 30 minutes while the juices tighten your pores and cleanse your skin. Your skin will feel naturally smoother and tighter after your first application, and works just as well as facelift creams found in beauty stores.

Papaya works as a great ingredient in exfoliates, since it is packed full of vitamins and enzymes. You can mix the fruit with oatmeal and water, and your skin will be naturally smoother and blemish free after only a few applications. You can make a thicker paste formula and use it as a mask with the same ingredients, just by adding less water and juice to the oatmeal. Leave on until it dries, and wash off with warm water for the full effect.

Brown rice flour mixed with a small amount of lemon juice makes a wonderful mask as well, and works great for those with extra oil on their skin. Mix about 2 tablespoons of the flour with a small amount of lemon juice into a paste, but make sure you include some of the pulp in the mix. Leave on for about 15 minutes or until it is dry, and your skin will be tighter, smoother, and free of excess oil.

Many of the food items that are healthy to eat are also healthy for our skin. Fruits, vegetables, and many other ingredients give our skin the rich vitamins and nutrients it needs to look healthy, and it doesn't cost a lot either. Next time you are at the store and need to buy facial products, head for the food section rather than the face wash isle.

Womens Heart Health - The Scary Truth About Womens Heart Health

Womens heart health is a subject that should be on the tip of everyone's tongue, but for some reason not too many people seem to be talking about it. Unlike other womens issues that have people mobilized and raising awareness, when it comes to the heart there doesn't seem to be too many people championing the cause. It seems as though I can't drive anywhere without seeing a car with a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon magnet attached to it, but where are the magnets for heart problems.

You'd think that there would be tons of soccer moms concerned with womens heart health, especially given the fact that heart disease is the number one cause of death today for American women. I'm constantly hearing about how men die of heart attacks, but more women than men die every year in the United States of cardiovascular disease. Additionally, 23 percent of women over the age of 40 who have heart attacks die within a year. When you compare that to the 18 percent of their male counterparts, it's hard to understand why this isn't more of a women's issue. Where are all of the specials on Oprah? Where are the races for cures?

Even scarier, 64 percent of women who have heart attacks and die suddenly have had no previous symptoms. It's truly a silent killer, striking otherwise healthy people when they least expect it. Also, after the age of 40 the lifetime risk for cardiovascular disease is more than 50 percent in women. The worst part is that diagnostic tests and procedures that work well for men don't work as well in women. This is particularly true of ECG tests, which is also known as the exercise stress test. All in all, more people need to be aware of womens heart health.

Stress and Debt: Is Credit Too Easy?

I found a website that offered 'on line' applications for payday loans from $100 - $1500. It let the user pick payment terms, amount, and even interest rates. It started me on the topic of credit.

Our parents dreamed of being out of debt by the time they retired. Most of our generation will be looking for ways to lower their monthly payments and interest rates. The stress of carrying debt is taking its toll on our health and our mental well being.

Faxless Payday Loans may not be the answer for everyone. But, we are so use to free and easy to obtain credit that it makes me wonder if we should fight the system - or learn how to benefit from it. Last year the USA had 70 banks close because of high debt loads. However, the UK is thriving under their debt mountain. They obviously learned something we haven't about carrying debt.

I am not sure if we will be out of debt when we retire, but I do hope that we will be able to manage the debt we do have without missing payments and struggling to make ends meet.

Beauty Supplements Tame The Aging Beast

Interest in skin care supplements, or beauty foods, has been strong in Asia, and that trend is growing fast in Europe as well. These nutrient rich beauty foods make a good case for starting a beauty regime from within, one that is designed to prevent or reduce the effects of aging, like sagging skin.

Some products on the market include a supplement containing lacto-lycopene, vitamin C, and soy isoflavones. This is aimed at restoring firmness to the skin for women over 40, and was developed by Nestle and L'Oreal. Others have been developed using lycopene and grape seed extract, both antioxidants. Grape seed extract also stops enzymatic reactions that lead to collagen in the skin being broken down.

Antioxidants protect the capillaries in skin and thus ensure that enough nutrients get to the living cells that eventually push their way to the surface and become the skin you see in the mirror. They also protect from broken veins and early wrinkling. Capillaries also deliver oxygen to the cells, and remove the waste products of cellular metabolism. This prevents puffy, sagging, and dull skin.

But you don't always need to reach for a bottle of supplements. Simply by eating more antioxidant rich food on a daily basis should see some improvement in skin tone. Fruits rich in antioxidants include blueberries, prunes, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, apples, cherries and plums. And of the vegetables, eat more artichokes, broccoli, red cabbage, pontiac potatoes, brown onions, asparagus, non-green capsisum, beetroot, spinach and sweet potatoes.

Women are more prone to the damage caused by antioxidants than men, according to research from the University of Berkeley, and hence possibly their aging effects (Angyal).

Another strong antioxidant is beta carotene. Beta carotene is found in green leafy vegetables, fruit and carrots. This antioxidant has been found to counteract the effects of a particular type of oxygen free radical, singlet oxygen, which occurs after the skin is exposed to UV radiation in sunlight. UV exposure can lead to premature aging by the effects of singlet oxygen. A study found that whilst the provitamin A aspect of the carotenoid did not combat the singlet oxygen, the beta carotene did. It prevented the action of two enzymes, associated with UV light and the destruction of the skin cell's extracellular matrix, which happens in premature aging of the skin. Sunlight also destroys beta carotene in cells after sun exposure, so this beta carotene has to be replaced.

Beta carotene has been reported as having a mild sunscreen effect too, though it needs to be taken as a supplement to get this effect.

The skin care supplement beauty market is still not a strongly developed one however, as these types of supplements tend to be more expensive than other supplements. And there needs to be more research and clinical trials to prove which products do what they are designed to.

Tips For Reducing Wrinkles

Reducing wrinkles is a major concern for both women and men.
Wrinkling is a fact of life that affects all people, but certain
lifestyle choices can make wrinkles appear sooner. Exposure to
ultraviolet radiation, either from the sun or the use of tanning beds
is a major cause of premature aging of the skin. In addition, doing
this can cause malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin
cancer.

Other Lifestyle Choices that Affect Your Skin:

o Smoking increases wrinkles and ages your skin. Don’t smoke and if
you do, quit to reduce both damage to your skin and your overall
health.

o Diet can affect your skin. Eat a healthy diet that includes a lot
of fresh fruits and vegetables. These are antioxidant rich foods that
can help keep your skin firmer longer.

o Dehydration can increase wrinkling. Drink plenty of water to
hydrate your body and skin. You should have a minimum of eight glasses
of water every day.

o Avoid alcohol, which causes the skin to sag and become puffy.
People who drink a lot of alcohol often look older than those who don’t
drink at all, or only drink occasionally. For your skin, the worst time
to consume alcohol is before bed.

o Excessive stress affects your skin. Do what you can to reduce the
stress in your life. Relaxation techniques, yoga, prayer, reading the
Bible and meditation are excellent ways to reduce stress. This will
help you look and feel better.

o Don’t sleep on your face, but on your back instead. Sleeping on
your face increases wrinkling and increases the effects of gravity on
your skin.

Take good care of your skin to help combat the signs of aging.
Don’t over wash your face; limit washing to twice each day. This is
especially true if your tap water contains chlorine or other chemicals
used in water purification. Consider having a water filter installed,
or use purified water to wash your face, if you find the chlorine
irritating. Never wash in very hot water, which is drying.

Use only mild facial cleansers that contain moisturizing
ingredients. Stay away from soap, especially deodorant soaps, which are
very drying to the skin. After you have washed your face, pat dry and
use a moisturizer. Look for products that are oil free. Water based
lotion is best for moisturizing the skin without clogging your pores.

Antioxidants help reduce the signs of aging on your skin. These are
found in food, vitamins and skin care products. The best sources are
vitamin A, C, E. Antioxidants destroy free radicals, which cause
cellular damage, age the skin and cause skin cancer. There is evidence
that they work best when combined. For example, vitamins C and E work
better together than either vitamin alone. Vitamin A is often found in
both prescription and over the counter topical ointments.

Retin A is a prescription topical cream that contains vitamin A. a
prescription is needed from the dermatologist for this medication.
Retin A treats wrinkling caused by aging and sun exposure. It takes
between two and six months to see noticeable improvement. Side effects
include redness, burning, itching and scaling, which can last for a few
months. In addition, it can cause photosensitivity. You should avoid
sunlight and wear a sunscreen when outside in the sun. Pregnant women
should not use this cream, as it can cause birth defects in the unborn
child.

Retinol is a natural form of vitamin A. It is found in over the
counter ointments. There are fewer side effects with Retinol than with
the stronger Retin A. Using antioxidant creams containing vitamin C or
E may increase the benefits of retinol. These are sometimes found
combined in one cream, or can be applied separately.

If you want to see results sooner, consider a skin peel. You will
see results fast, without having to wait several months for
improvement. In the past, peels were only available from a
dermatologist or esthetician. There is now a wonderful TCA peel for
home use. Esthetician’s Choice takes just a few minutes to apply and
gives fast results. You will notice slight reddening of the skin for a
day or so. The skin will then peel, revealing a younger looking
complexion.

Look To The Internet For Emotional Wellness

My father was a 'walking dead man.' He retired about 10 years ago, and until this summer he did nothing but veg in front of the television. He worked as much as possible for friends, but for the most part, his depression robbed him of his vitality and interest in life.

This ended last summer when my son, in a most unusual way, 'woke him up.' How? I have parental control on my computer. My parents don't. So, my dad walked in on my son playing online casino. There was no cash involved, but my dad, in his 'guy' fashion decided to teach my son how to play.

Now, they are often visiting sites like pro360 looking for new poker sites. Of course, the rule is no cash involved. And, the rule is sticking. Even though my dad and son live so far apart they can only meet once a year, they meet every night on a different poker site.

Would I have chosen this venue? Never. But, it has worked for both of them. My son is learning how quickly lady luck turns, and my father is involved in his grandson's life.

The Price of Anti Aging

A $1.1 billion market in 2006, the U.S. anti-aging skincare treatment market. This healthy market is largely due to an aging population, and marketing that promise to ward off the signs of aging and give people a younger-looking complexion and younger-feeling skin.

The increasing ubiquity of formerly “prestige” products at FDM channels allows for an expanding consumer base and wider exposure. The multi-billion-dollar global cosmetics and skin-care-product industry is more concerned with the competition rather than applying sound science to improve products, a scientist told the 234th national meeting of the American Chemical Society.

Where does that leave us? We have been the guineepigs for so many products from breast implants to cancer causing pills to reduce morning sickness, to diet pills that destory our livers. What is the ultimate cost of looking beautiful?

Acne Scars in Adults

The medical industry is awakening to the fact that looking good is not about self esteem or self image. Today, acne scars can limit every aspect of life from social acceptability to professional success in your job. Many of today’s new acne treatments correct damage by taking advantage of the skin’s regenerative properties, healing by using the epidermis’s ability to renew, grow, and stretch.

In the past acne scars were a pre-adult concern. Now, making use of information learned from the cosmetic industry, dermatologists are learning to use the skin’s ability to remain supple and wrinkle free. The same discoveries that enable adults to remain wrinkle free into their forties is used to prevent acnes and reduce scars.

Cosmetics and healthy living enable skin to remained healthy into the forties, it also remains susceptible to acne and acne scars. Now adults suffer from acne into their forties when aging skin looses its elasticity and regenerative powers, increasing the risk of acne scars.

To combat acne and scaring adults must understand acne and its causes.

Acne starts with one lesion: the comedo. This is an enlarged hair follicle plugged with oil, dead skin cells and bacteria. The original pimple is invisible to the eye. The Comedones remains beneath the skin’s surface until the right conditions enable it to grow into the second level: an inflamed lesion.

As the skin produces more oil, bacteria growth accelerates. The surrounding skin becomes inflamed as the white blood cells fight against the infection.

The most important thing to understand is that there is no cure for acne. The best defense is a good preventative program, especially if acne has caused scares in the past, or in adults over twenty five years old.

Adults must also understand how their daily cleansing rituals and eating habits can aggravate acne. The most damaging product is facial soap. Most soap products contain ingredients that agitate the skin, perfumes that block pores, and abrasives that promote instead of prevent acne scars.

If acne scars exist, do not loose hope. There are several successful treatments. Each one deals with a specific type of acne scar.

There are three types of acne scars:
1. Ice-pick scars average 1-2 mm in diameter,
2. Rolling scars are caused by abnormal fibrous bands that distort the surface of the skin.
3. Boxcar scars measure appears similar to post chicken pox scars.

The type of acne scar defines the treatment. Any reputable program starts by preventing the formation of new pimples. A good program will work to improve photodamage in the skin, improving the skin’s ability to prevent scars.

Many new plastic surgery techniques battle acne scars. One notable technique is called Collagen Induction Therapy. This technique promises to help people even when other measures fail.

This treatment even offers hope to adults who carry pock-marks on their faces, or have severely scared faces from a serious case of acne.

Healthy Skin = Healthy Body

The epidermis is the body’s largest organ. You wash, tone, moisturize and exfoliate. You bath regularly and keep it out of the sun. But, If your skincare program is limited to the outside, you are only treating half of the problem.

The epidermis is responsible for releasing poisons from the body and even limits the immune system’s ability to keep a body healthy. It renews itself, hydrates itself, and helps keep you healthy, but it can only do that if it is healthy.
It is not hard to take care of your skin.

Vitamin A repairs skin tissue. Dry flaky skin may not need moisturizer, but more vitamin A. Fruits and vegetables are loaded with the A vitamin. Add tomatoes, cantaloupes, watermelons, peaches, kiwis, oranges and blackberries to your diet.
Antioxidants not only prevent cancer, they protect the skin from sun, smoking, and pollution, which reduces the signs of aging and skin damage.

Vitamin C is found in citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, broccoli, bell peppers, Brussels sprouts and leafy greens. Foods with vitamin E are some vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, olives, spinach and asparagus.

Zinc heals the skin and improves the immune system as you age. It works whether taken internally or used topically.” Food that contains zinc includes oysters, lean meat and poultry.

Water is vitally important to the skin’s health. It can hydrate the skin restoring the translucent look of youth to various degrees. It helps the skin restore itself. Last, it helps the immune system.

Caffeinated and alcohol work opposite to water. They dehydrate the body, making the skin appear dull. Water and fiber eliminate toxic.

Smoking narrows the blood vessels in the outer layers of skin. This decreases blood flow, depleting the skin of oxygen and nutrients, including vitamin A. This increases damage to the fibers and collagen, which gives skin its strength and elasticity.
One often overlooked aspect of skin care is bathing. Long hot baths with strong soaps, and even perfumed soaps, removes the oils from the skin, and can contain solvents that damage the outer layer of the skin.
It may be nice to bath with a perfumed soap that foams when used, but this may be damaging your skin.

Shaving can damage the skin. Shaving cream contains chemicals that can damage the skin. Soft soaps, when used in combination with new, sharp blades, reduces skin damage. Damaged skin cannot heal itself, help the body’s immune system, aid in eliminating contaminants from the body, and rejuvenate itself.

One surprising revelation is that the sun can help improve skin care and the immune system. The sun reacts with the skin releasing vitamin D, which has been cited as a cancer-fighting agent. However, too much sun, or not protecting your skin from the sun can cause cancer.

Skin care is one of the most overlooked aspects of health and well-being. Most people are unaware that it is not just a protective layer covering the muscles, but it is an organ like the heart, and like the heart, damage will result in sever health problems.

Can I Be Younger than My Age?

Fitness gurus and gyms are claiming that you can be younger than your age in years. This is great news for a generation turning to botox, cosmetics, cosmetic surgery, and a lean 'younger looking' body.

People who do not smoke, maintain a good BMI and are very fit, can 'rate' a younger body than their actual age. Achieving a younger body is a big motivator for many exercisers. Many people love the idea that their chronological body is 50, while their physical body is only 35.

However, people need to be aware of shrewd marketing strategies. Many health books and products show 'touched up' pictures of 50 year olds with the body of a 25 year old. Trying to reach this goal can actually damage your health.

Here is a link to a site to help you take your real age Gyms use a Polar measurement system.

Botox, cosmetics, a face lift, tummy tuck, or other cosmetic surgery practices will not take the place of physical exercise and good eating habits. A 50 year old with a body that looks 35 is very different from one who has a body that is as healthy as a 35 year olds. This is something that you must take into serious consideration before trying fad diets, surgery, or health risking fitness schemes.

What is Your Real Age?

Did you know that your body's age might be different from your chronological age? Your body's age might be several years younger, or older, than the date on your driver's license.

Your RealAge, developed by Dr. Michael Roizen, is the biological age of your body, based on how well you've maintained it.

I found a free online website that posted Dr. Roizen's test. Instead of guessing whether you are fit enough, or relying on a twenty minute physical at the doctors every year, take the test and find out what your body's age is.

This test is gaining so much popularity that it has been featured on Oprah, 20/20, and CNN.

This could be the one key to help you start a fitness plan that you can stick to. A thirty year old with the physical fitness level of a forty five year old, will find most programs at the local fitness center too hard to do. Taking the results of this test into a fitness instructor, or using it to design a fitness program for your body's age, might help you finally create the body that you always wanted.

The test is not hard. It only takes a few minutes, and the results could change your life.
