My husband started working for a temp agency last summer. He goes to work for 2 or 3 days to weeks at a time. He usually doesn't do anything stressful. The temp agency is aware of his limitation, and doesn't call him for jobs that are beyond his abilities.
He started this for some 'mad money.' He didn't like not having that extra money in his pocket. Not after a life of working hard. He also started talking about being useless. I saw the signs of depression.
Helping out at the factory a few days has not only kept him active, but I've notice that it helped him regulate his sleep and eating - both are vital because he is diabetic.
The job has also made him happier. He comes home and talks about the job, day's events, and who he met. He laughs more and is less irritable.
