Lower Your Cholesterol

Did you know that exercise can help lower your cholesterol? Neither did I until recently.

I knew that I needed to cut as much salt as I could out of my diet. I stopped eating salty foods, stopped eating canned and pre-processed foods. I removed whole milk from my diet, and exchanged ice cream for sherbet, and I cut down the butter. I felt that I was doing everything I could. My goal - to stay off the medication. However, my efforts were not working.

I am in a high-risk category. My father has heart problems, my grandmother died of heart problems. That is why I am starting to pay attention to my cholesterol levels now. I like this short Cholesterol Management tutorial on how to get started. It explains how to manage cholesterol. I also started eating foods that help lower cholesterol. I am not sure if I can lower my cholesterol for the rest of my life, but if I can lower it enough to keep my body healthy and active, and avoid surgery with a painful recovery period, then I will be happy.

The best news is that I do not need to maintain a vigorous fitness regime to lower my cholesterol. The normal 'fitness breaks' I take through the day will help lower the bad cholesterol and increase the good.
