Grandchildren

I have two children, and 7 grandchildren. My husband's son has three. He is a soldier at a base in Western Canada. His daughter has five, and is a mom and student with more energy than I have.

It is strange being both a mom and grandmother. It keeps you in touch with the 'trends' and new products out there. There are so many gifts to buy, and so many tastes to satisfy.

I've learned a few tricks. First, don't shop at local stores. IF the children are younger, then you want to shop online to find something that is 'like' their friends have - but cooler. You have to shop online to do this. The current 'in' thing is heelys. However, if you want to get something that is 'just perfect' then you need to shop online. First - you need to know what a heely is...

If the child is older, they might prefer rollerblades. But, unlike the younger children, the box is more important. You need to buy them at a place like 123skate.com so the kids can say their skates came from the Miami Strip.

The online stores are often bigger, with better products. These are the newest 'in things' and will be on most kid's wish list.
